series 8 watch

The Series 8 watch launched in September 2022 as a health-focused upgrade to the Series 7. It features an always-on Retina LTPO OLED display in 41mm and 45mm sizes, powered by the S8 chip for smooth performance across apps, Siri, and watchOS. Its headline additions are a skin temperature sensor, which supports cycle tracking and retrospective ovulation estimates, and Crash Detection, which uses a high-g accelerometer and gyroscope to spot severe car accidents and can automatically call emergency services. It also offers ECG and blood oxygen monitoring, along with high and low heart rate alerts and irregular rhythm notifications. For fitness, it provides automatic workout detection, GPS, sleep stage tracking, and Activity rings, and it is water resistant to 50 meters and dust resistant (IP6X). Battery life is around 18 hours, with a Low Power Mode to stretch it further. The watch comes in GPS or GPS + Cellular versions, in aluminum or stainless steel cases, with a wide range of band options.
